Montacute Pavilion is the perfect retreat. It has been designed around the main bedroom and bathroom which occupies the whole upper floor. Here you are in the treetops, looking down into the garden on three sides, or to the hills in the distance. It has a wonderfully god-like sense of being above the world, looking down into your private domain.
There is a sitting room and fully-equipped kitchen downstairs, as well as a second bedroom with a king-size bed (or two singles) with ensuite bathroom.
It is perfect for a couples, couples with children, or friends who just want to hang out in a special place.
Montacute Pavilion forms part of the 1.3 acre (0.6 hectare) Villa Castagna. Guests have exclusive use of the Terrace, Parterre Garden (parterre à l’Angloise), Chinoiserie fabrique, Quincecunx, Apple Trellis and seat, New Parterre, Limonaia parterre and the Raven seat, and Rabbit Island, and the area under the chestnuts as far as the Red Gate and Woodshed Temple.
The garden is in the process of being extended beyond the Red Gate and Woodshed Temple, and eventually there will be access to Stanley Street.
There are lots of places to sit: there are cafe tables and comfortable chairs on the terrace, a table and can armchairs in the Chinoiserie Fabrique, which is a lovely sunny spot for meals and has a Weber barbecue. There are seats in the Quincecunx, the Apple Trellis and on the Raven seat.
