The bathroom is designed to be a special place, for bathing by bath or shower and for having fun. It has the biggest proper bath that they make. The window blinds are cunningly designed to go in both directions, so you can set any privacy level you want.
The shower is special. It takes the form of a large niche. This was a little bit inspired by the golden niche in the bathroom of the Art Deco Eltham Palace, London, which figures a lot in episodes of Poirot. At Montacute we went for a glittering black and gold theme. At Eltham palace there is a statue in the niche, which is at the head of the bath. At Montacute the niche is much bigger, and can ‘inhabited’ by a full-size statue. Or a person. Or two people!
